filming blog for music video

Today is Monday, November 25th, 2019. This weekend Alexis, kaylin, and I were not able to film because I had family over. Alexis also worked on Saturday at his job. The Thanksgiving break starts this Wednesday and we are planning to film within that weekend. This Wednesday I also work at my job but maybe the weekend is the best day to start because will still have family over. Our song is still "SAD!" By XXXTentacion.

Our plan is going to be based off of that  storyboard we had done. The video is going to be roughly around 1 minute and 15 seconds, hopefully. This will be a challenge considering that the video is due so soon after that Monday we get back. Being based on the storyboard, the video will start out in my house and transfer outside. I wish we could have done this weekend by it's very hard to plan when we have a tough schedule. Friday can also work because it can give us part of the weekend to edit the film. This way we dont rush ourselves and mess up the film

The last project with the music video was my first video based project. Therefore, this is my second and I personally believe we did very well on it. Now that we have three people, filming will be much easier and it will be less cuts where Alexis is in and out of the film. For example, Alexis has to cut himself out of frame as a quarterback and appear as a cornerback, then throw the ball again out of frame. Now with a third person, we can do all of the filming with someone holding the camera and filming myself and kalyn in the film instead of all these crazy angles. Again, we will attempt to film on Friday and edit on the weekend, but we will see how things go.

Storyboard for music Video

Today is November 21st, 2019. We started our storyboard on Wednesday, November 20th. Our storyboard includes 12 sections where each comes out to be about 5-6 seconds real time. If you add all of this up, it will equal about 60-72 seconds, or 1 minute - 1 minute and 12 seconds. The video has to be at least 65 seconds, or 1 minute and 5 seconds. Now time to break down the slides and explain what is going on in each section of this storyboard. The first box shows me sleeping and the name of the song is in the background. The second box includes me getting up from the bed and sitting on the edge. To add on, you can see the artist in the background above the bed. This is around where the song begins and i get up out of my bed and go to my phone. This leads to the third box, which is where i get a message from Kaylyn saying she wants to hang out.

Continuing the part, I then go to the bathroom where i look myself in the mirror with sadness. I start then walking towards the stairs, which leads to the fifth box. I continue by going down stairs and grabbing my bike to head outside. This is where the 6th box leads into. Again, while making this storyboard, I was just drawing ideas and realized it looked like my house, thus implying the reason the location will be at my house. To add on it will be a lot easier at my house because my bike is there. Leading into the 7th, I take my bike outside. This is in front of my house where i'm on my bike about to leave.

In the 8th box, you can see my riding my bike down a street. It's suppose to show me leaving to go meet up with Kaylyn. The 9th box shows an area where Kaylyn is walking down a street and I am riding my bike down a road that is perpendicular to hers. In the 10th box, it shows that she has intercepted my road and i start to swerve. This is where the filming gets somewhat dangerous because i have to fake falling off my bike. If we mess up, then the first aid kit can come in handy. Heading into the 11th box, you can see me on the ground, indicating that i crashed my bike and now i'm bleeding out. For this part i will be using fake Halloween blood. Finally, the last box shows me dead form bleeding out. Although this part may seem glorious, it won't be that much "blood" and whatnot. We haven't really decided a date for this project by we were thinking about either next weekend or this weekend. Problem is that next weekend is thanksgiving weekend and the only days we can probably do it is either Saturday or Friday.

Planning Blog for Music Video

Today is Thursday, November 21st, 2019. Our project begun on Monday, November 18th. Since Alexis wasn't here, Kaylyn and I came up with a random song. On Wednesday, November 20th, Alexis was in fact here this time and we decided to change the song. Instead of the song "Ransom" by Lil Tecca, we changed it to the song "SAD!" by XXXtentacion. Myself, personally, is not really a ran of this artist because of the sadness he bring to his music. Unfortunately, the artist passed away a few years ago after an incident where he was shot to death. Afterwards, his music became iconic to many fans, though not including myself, and with a song by him, it can be like by many people. Some other options that we were going to do was the songs "Apparently" by J Cole, and "Orlando," also by XXXtentacion.

The location of our film is still undetermined. However, due to the fact that we based the storyboard, which will be my next blog, the location will most likely be my house. We were deciding who's house we should film at and we didn't really have the biggest ideas. Also, my house has all the stuff, like my bike and whatnot. Our heath plan is that we will have a first aid kit with us. I personally don't have an official one by i can always make one from spare band aids and other stuff that would be in a first aid kit. We can also always buy one at a place like Walgreen or Walmart, who sells first aid kits for cheap. Before anything, we always have to keep our safety first, especially when I am fake-falling off my bike.

Props that will include my bike, helmet, and even my phone. There are also many other things that can also be include. In our last project, when it was just Alexis and I, we even included water bottle, which marked the spot where we would start filming. In one of the clips, you can even see the water bottle on the far left of the screen. Costumes will include casual clothing. I will be wearing a hoodie because, not being stereotypical, that is usually what sad people wear. Kaylyn will most likely wear regualr clothing, as stated above. For schemes, it will most likely be black and blue, because that usually indicates sadness and whatnot.

intro to Music video blog

Today is Thursday, November 14th, 2019. Our last project, being the Nike commercial is over and done with.We are starting a new project in AICE Media and it's a music video. Alexis and I working together again. This time, a joining a group and her name is Kaylyn. Her commercial was about water. Now that she is going to be apart of our group and will work with us on the music video.

Since Alexis isn't here, Kaylyn and I had to come up with a song. We had different options of genres. This includes Country, Rap, pop, rock, or R&B. Me personally would have chose a country song, but most people like rap. Therefore, we decided to chose the song "Ransom," by Lil Techa, a popular song in today's generations. In my opinion, I don't like the new generation of rap because it's mostly people who mumble into the mic, such as Lil Pump. However, there are some artists I listen to. These artists include people like Drake, or Big Sean. Though this song can be argued as a mumble rap song, I don't mind it. Maybe when Alexis comes back we can change it to a better option.

Moving forward, we haven't decided on the costumes. Personally, I hate to wear baggy clothing and any Hip-Hop clothing. Maybe I can go with my fish chain and my hat backwards. For lighting, we can use natural light, which includes but limited to sunlight. For acting, we can use just the 3 of use. We will most likely lip-sing. For make-up, there will be none. There will be no need for make-up since its a rap video and not a pop video. For props, we can maybe use chains, glasses, and/or hats. For the setting, it is still undetermined and we do not know one hundred percent where we will be filming. This is because Alexis is not here and we do not know where we can find a place for all of this. For camera angles, we can use pan and tilt angles. For shot movement, we can use hand-held and tracking shot. For sound, well this is obviously music. Editing can include transitions in which each clip bleeds into each other.

Final editing blog of Nike commercial

Today is Thursday, November 7th, 2019. Alexis and I started our editing process on Tuesday, the 5th. we were trying to figure out how we wanted our commercial to turn out. Also i figured out what the name of the software was, which is called VEGAS Pro. We put the the SD card and transferred our footage inside the software. The first thing we did was cut out a bunch of time within the film. The total time of the footage was about 1 minute and 10 seconds, give or take. The needed time for the commercial is between 25-30 seconds. Not more nor any less. So we had to figure out a way to edit it all the way down to the needed time.

The first part we wanted to do was make all the footage look good together. By doing this, we had to cut the footage into pieces. At first, we didn't know how to cut the footage and we figured it out pretty fast. To do this, you had to right click on the area the selected film was and press slit. Then, since it was already selected, you only had to press delete and the selected area is gone. We had to did this to many parts of our footage. This includes parts where we have to turn off the camera. Also, it includes areas where the footage bleeds in within the other footage. Another thing, this is the first time I ever edited a video. Secondly, the other part that we wanted to do was a time lapse.

Neither one of us knew how to do a time lapse, and Alexis is good at editing. Therefore, we had to look up how to do so on YouTube. It was quite simple, but at the end we decided to take out the time lapse because it was time consuming. It took about a whole 8 seconds of our total time. At this point we were around 39 seconds. On the today, which Alexis and I basically just went over the film a little bit and took out another unnecessary chuck that took about 6 seconds. Therefore, we are around 32 seconds. Its the last blue day this week and we were cut short on a half day, in which class ended at 8:26, compared with regular time being 10:50. Unfortunately, Alexis has the footage on his computer and him and i can only help each other over phones. There is no school Monday and our commercial i due before midnight Monday, therefore this weekend is going to be our finishing touches

editing blog 10/28/2019

Today is November 3rd, 2019. Similar to last blog, i wrote this one as well and it somehow got deleted. Moreover, this blog was for Monday the 28th of October and we could not edit this day. This was do to a malfunction of the editing software on the school computers. The computers from the school are old and runs very slow. Despite that, I'm surprised that the computers can even update at this point. So we improvised about what we will do for the day we do edit. Lucky, we got computers that has the editing software on it on November 1st. We will start working on it next class, which is Tuesday, November 5th. Also, I am thankful to have Alexis as a partner because he already does editing and he has a editing software, in which I don't recall the name.

The plan for our filming process is to make the clips where we make cuts on and add them to make them look as one. We are still debating whether or no to add music in our commercial but in my opinion I believe it would make it more interesting. Alexis already has the footage on his personal SD card. We plugged into the computer and checked out our footage to see if there were any errors. Surprisingly, there were none and everything looked ready to go. Instead of editing, we mostly planned what we were going to do for the process. The editing processor on his computer is more reliable because no kid can log on and delete the footage. Also, there are less areas for error, such as his SD card having the footage, the footage being on his computer, etc.

One of our backup plans, just in case the software fails, was to use a different software on his computer, again not recalling the name since it was about a week ago. I'm excited for the outcome of this film since I'm a huge football fan. Of course, assuming because i have a a Philadelphia Eagles jersey. I've been an Eagles fan since the 3rd grade because i was born an hour and a half away from Philly, which was Lancaster. To add on, Alexis is a Raiders fan. Back to editing, i think we will have the best commercial in the class, at least I hope so. Finally,

filming blog 10/24/2019

Today is November 3rd, 2019. My partner and I filmed our commercial about Nike on October 24th. The reason for the late upload is because i wrote a blog about this and it got deleted. Moving forward, the first thing we did was we got our supplies to film. Alexis and i got the camera numbered 15 and signed a paper to use it. Ms. Katz then went over what we had to do before we went outside to film. The first thing Alexis and i did was go to Couch Dunbar to get a football. That day, i wore my Zach Ertz jersey to school for the commercial and Alexis brought his cleats and his vikings shirt. The main goal was to create the NFC championship game, where the Eagles took on the Vikings at a home game, in which the final score was a blowout win 38-7 by eagles who went to go win the Superbowl that year in 2017.

The first thing we did was we practiced what we were going to do before filming. Since i was going to be the star of the film, Alexis had to play 3 roles: Play quarterback, cornerback, and film me. The first part of the film we did was film me walking towards the film and turn my back as if i was lining up to run a route. To add on, we were specifically go off of our storyboard. Therefore, our second part was filming the shoes. This was the part i filmed. Going on to the 3rd part of the film, it was was were i was going to put on the shoes. This part we decided to do a time lapse, since it would be boring for me to put on the shoes in a 20 second clip. Before moving on the next part, since i never have worn cleats, i practice running routes in them. It took us a while, about 15 minutes give or take to come up with our golden route. Finally is was decided where is was going to be, which where our 4th part of the film comes in
\
The 4th part was the hardest out of the 6. This is where Alexis plays quarterback, cornerback, and film me running. it took us awhile to film this but we got it down on the 4th try. This plan was simple. Alexis would run and i would run out of frame while he threw me the ball. Then, he comes into the next frame as him playing cornerback and i run out of frame once more. Finally, this is where the 4th part transitions into the 5th part where i catch the ball. This frame included me to do the "toe drag" where he played quarterback while filming me again. Last but not least, the part where it took us the most tries was the 6th. This is where the frame goes to my shoes as you see me "toe drag." This took us a whole 8 tries but we nailed it with the hammer the last time. After the shoes are shown, i spike the ball and the commercial ends. Alexis and I now have to edit the film for next class.
